Introduction To Programs

To increase the vibrancy, use and bolster our unique sense of place, River City Company hosted or partnered on a variety of different Downtown programs in 2016 along with a variety of marketing initiatives.

Passageways

River City Company partnered with AIA Tennessee to launch Passageways, a public architecture exhibit focusing on the urban fabric that exists in the space between our city’s buildings. A global call for submissions garnered nearly 70 submissions from architects and design teams from around the world. Four alleyways in City Center host five installations designed by teams from Chattanooga, New York and Australia. The exhibits will be in place until summer 2017. Through the life of the program, River City Company will program these spaces which to date have included our launch event in August with over 1,200 people in attendance, movie screenings, art walks, a speaker series, informal concerts and a family holiday night.

UTC Takes Over Nightfall

UTC Takes Over Nightfall welcomed students back to campus in August celebrating the university’s presence in Downtown Chattanooga.

Startup Week and Basecamp

A week-long celebration of Chattanooga’s entrepreneurial community in October, Startup Week Chattanooga (link to their site) in its third year had over 175 community sourced events. River City happily hosted Basecamp in Miller Plaza offering the best coworking, swag stop, networking, morning coffee, charging spot, games, food, relaxing space and Wi-Fi connecting.

In addition to the week-long event, Startup Week organizers wanted to keep the community spirit going all year. As a result, River City hosted a Basecamp event every month leading up to the week-long’s event.
